Tale of Transformation with Purpose
She is always up for challenges. Be it for a Halloween costume competition, taking a new responsibility at work, or for transformation with purpose, this resilient and hardworking girl doesn’t hold back.
“I believe in progress over perfection and purpose over comfort,” remarks Raweyah. She is from the Philippines and has been in the UAE since 2024. She believes in constant growing and learning.
This was the very reason why she participated in a fitness challenge that was organized by her office. The participants were required to achieve their healthy weight within three months of time, and she was able to lose more than 10 kgs.
She says that her fitness journey didn’t start because “I wanted a perfect body; it started because I needed balance. Life abroad can be mentally exhausting, and I realized I had to take care of myself, not just survive.”
How did she achieve that?
Walking regularly, being mindful of what she ate, and staying consistent. These were her acts of self-respect to reclaim control during stressful times.
“When I take care of my body, I show up better at work, think more clearly, and handle challenges with more strength,” Raweyah admits.
This 3-month transformation has been rewarding for her.
Fitness taught her discipline, patience, and self-trust. “It’s not just physical, it’s emotional. It reminds me that progress doesn’t have to be extreme, it just has to be consistent.”
Icing to the cake, she bagged the second place in the competition. She also won the 2000 Aed as a cash prize.
Raweyah earned it.
Transformation with Purpose
Life in the UAE has been both challenging for her. But it is more “transformative”.
Balancing work, responsibilities, emotional struggles, and self-care is not easy. There are days when exhaustion takes over, and motivation feels distant. But Raweyah still shows up.
“I’ve learned that showing up imperfectly is still showing up. Consistency is often harder than the workout itself, but it’s also more powerful,” she expresses.
Her life in the UAE has pushed her to grow up faster and become more disciplined, emotionally and financially.
Since coming to the UAE, she has become financially independent and responsible, which she considers her “biggest achievement.” As per her, being far from family teaches you independence in ways nothing else can.
“I am able to support my siblings and steadily work toward my long-term goal of building a rest house for my parents. Knowing that my sacrifices and efforts directly improve their lives gives my journey a purpose.”
While there are days filled with pressure and loneliness, there are also days of pride, learning, and quiet strength. “Every milestone, big or small, feels earned,” she adds.
Leaving her home country wasn’t an easy decision.
It wasn’t driven by adventure or luxury, but by a sense of responsibility. She shared that she always felt a deep obligation as the eldest in her family to “help carry the weight, to support my parents and create a better future for them, even though they don’t really ask for it. But I just want to give back all the great things they’ve done for me”.
The UAE represented opportunity, a place where hard work could truly translate into stability, growth, and hope. And she has taken all the challenges in her stride.
Her next step is growth: quiet and steady growth. She wants to continue improving her health, advance into a higher-impact role professionally, and keep building a secure future for her family.
“My journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s honest, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come,” she shares. “I’m learning to trust the process and give myself grace along the way.”
